A 4.2-magnitude earthquake shook parts of north Kashmir on Friday, with the epicenter located in Baramulla at a depth of 5 km.

According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the quake hit at 12:26 PM.

Fortunately, no immediate reports of loss of life or property have been recorded.

Jammu and Kashmir, which falls under seismic Zone-IV and V, remains highly vulnerable to earthquakes.

This recent tremor reminds us of the devastating 2005 earthquake that struck Muzaffarabad, resulting in at least 79,000 deaths.
