Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243, an Embraer 190, crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25, 2024.
The plane, which had been diverted from Grozny due to poor weather conditions and Ukrainian drone attacks, attempted an emergency landing but crashed, killing 38 of the 67 passengers.
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has cited "technical external interference" as the likely cause of the accident, though initial reports suggest a possible bird strike or an oxygen cylinder explosion.
The incident is under investigation by Azerbaijani and Kazakh authorities.
