Trump hints at potential trade deal between UK and US
Donald Trump has hinted that a trade deal may be on the cards with the UK which would allow for tariffs between the two nations to be lifted.
The US President called Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer a "tough negotiator" and said he had tried to persuade him not to impose trade tariffs on the UK.
"I think there's a very good chance that in the case of these two great, friendly countries, I think we could very well end up with a real trade deal where the tariffs wouldn't be necessary.
We'll see," Mr Trump added.

As Iran prepares to present a nuclear proposal to the U.S., Israeli military plans for a potential unilateral strike are nearly complete. Reports suggest Israel is moving munitions and reviewing final scenarios, while diplomatic efforts falter. A call between Trump and Netanyahu triggered emergency security meetings, highlighting deepening mistrust of Iran’s intentions. Israeli officials fear Tehran won’t abandon enrichment, while the U.S. seeks full denuclearization. With Iran weakened by sanctions and regional proxies losing ground, Israeli urgency grows—though U.S. officials warn that a strike could ignite a broader regional conflict.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi is criticizing Donald Trump for deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles without Governor Gavin Newsom's consent, calling it a violation of Article 10 of the Constitution. Pelosi compared this to Trump’s refusal to deploy the Guard during the January 6 Capitol riot, despite bipartisan pleas. “And yet, in a contra-constitutional way, he has sent the National Guard into California,” she said. With legal and political tensions rising, Pelosi warns: "Something is very wrong with this picture."

Sir Keir Starmer promised there would be no more “dithering” about backing nuclear power as the Government committed to the Sizewell C plant. The prime minister said the “change of mindset” would help free the UK from reliance on international fossil fuel markets and prevent price spikes such as those in the wake of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Speaking at a college in Ipswich, Sir Keir said: “No more dithering, no more delay, no more being unclear about what we’re going to do, a real statement of intent as we go forward.” Report by Covellm. Emperor penguins, the largest of their kind, are facing a growing threat as shrinking sea ice puts their future at risk. The birds rely on stable ice for up to eight months to raise their chicks, but as the Southern Ocean warms, that vital platform is melting too quickly. Scientists are alarmed by satellite data, which shows a sharp decline in colony numbers, with some areas disappearing twice as fast as predicted just seven years ago. Storms, changing weather and predators like orca whales are also contributing to their decline. Report by Covellm.
