The shadow business minister has claimed the government has "lost control" as record numbers of migrants crossed the channel this weekend. More than 1,100 migrants arrived in the UK after crossing the English Channel on Saturday, the highest number recorded so far in 2025. Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears as she paid tribute to her late husband Ozzy Osbourne at his coffin procession in Birmingham on Wednesday. The government has announced plans to build 40,000 new homes on brownfield railway sites. Discussing the plans,Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said it will lead to the "highest rate of house building in 40 years".
