The Alarm's Mike Peters Dies at 66, Michael Bolton Opens Up About Brain Cancer Diagnosis and Recovery, Barbra Streisand to Relea
Mike Peters, Frontman of The Alarm, dies at 66 after battle with cancer.
The legendary rocker, known for fronting Welsh rock band The Alarm, passed away on Tuesday after a 30-year battle with cancer.
Peters was first diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1995 and later with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a type of blood cancer.
Despite his battle, he continued to tour, write music, and advocate for those living with cancer.
Throughout his career, Peters released numerous hit songs and rock anthems with The Alarm, including 1984's 'Sixty Eight Guns' and 'The Stand,' as well as 1987's 'Rain In The Summertime.'
He performed alongside some of music's most iconic names such as Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
He also co-founded the Love Hope Strength Foundation with his wife Jules, who was also diagnosed with cancer in 2016 but is now cancer free.
The music-driven charity encourages fans to 'get on the list,' by joining the global stem cell registry.
His passing was confirmed by a spokesperson for The Alarm, with his wife later releasing a statement on social media, writing 'Whilst my heart is forever broken after losing my true love in the early hours of this morning, I remain committed to living the best life ever, in honour of our beloved Michael Leslie Peters, 1959-2025.'
Michael Bolton shares new details about brain cancer diagnosis and recovery.
The two-time Grammy winner and his daughters recently sat down with PEOPLE to discuss his diagnosis with glioblastoma, his first interview since beginning his cancer battle more than a year ago.
Bolton's cancer was first diagnosed after he underwent emergency brain surgery in December 2023 where doctors discovered a tumor.
Following his initial surgery, the 72-year-old singer underwent a second procedure in January of 2024 due to an infection.
Since then, Bolton has undergone radiation and chemotherapy, completing his treatments this past October.
While his most recent scans remain clear, Bolton shared that his short-term memory, speech, and mobility have been impacted by his treatments.
As time progresses, he will continue to undergo routine MRIs every two months as glioblastoma is often reoccurring.
