Israel intercepts Gaza-bound aid boat

Israeli forces have boarded a Gaza-bound aid boat, preventing the activists on board from reaching the blockaded Palestinian territory.

Run by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Madleen set sail on 1 June, carrying a small amount of aid, with the aim of raising awareness of food shortages in Gaza.

Israel is facing mounting international pressure to allow more supplies into the territory, described by the UN as the "hungriest place on Earth."
