A bus mounted the pavement on Victoria Street, central London, at around 8.20am on Thursday, injuring 17 people. Fresh controversy has erupted over the fatal Air India crash in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad last month. A Wall Street Journal report claims a cockpit recording reveals the captain cut off the aircraft’s fuel midair, moments after takeoff. The first officer, reportedly panicked, questioned the captain’s move, as per the leaked cockpit transcript. Both pilots, Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kunder, were killed along with 240 others onboard and 19 on the ground—only one person survived. The aircraft was airborne for just 32 seconds before slamming into buildings near BJ Medical College. Crucially, cockpit recordings capture a moment of confusion: one pilot asks, “Why did you cut off?” to which the other replies, “I didn’t.” Investigators found both fuel control switches had flipped from ‘RUN’ to ‘CUTOFF’, triggering total engine failure.
