‘WON’T SCRAP MY CAR’—Delhi Fuel Ban on 62 Lakh Vehicles Paused | Protests Explode Over EOL Policy

Public outrage has forced the Delhi government to pause its controversial plan to deny fuel to over 62 lakh "End of Life" vehicles — including cars, bikes, trucks, and even vintage automobiles.

The now-on-hold EOL policy targeted petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel ones older than 10, with fuel stations set to use number plate recognition to block refueling.

But after massive backlash from citizens — especially those with well-maintained older vehicles and valid pollution certificates — the government is rethinking its move.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa cited “technological challenges” and announced a shift in focus: targeting poorly-maintained vehicles instead of penalizing all old ones.
