Les Paul guitar famously stolen from The Rolling Stones in 1971 discovered in collection of guitars obtained by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
A 1959 sunburst Gibson Les Paul Standard, once owned by Mick Taylor of The Rolling Stones, has been discovered in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection.
The guitar, stolen in the early 1970s, was part of a large donation of guitars to the museum.
It was notably played by Mick Taylor and Keith Richards, including during the Stones' first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.
The Met acquired the guitar as part of a larger donation of over 500 guitars, described as a "landmark gift".
