A chilling wave of gun violence struck the United States as mass shootings unfolded in Los Angeles and Montana within days of each other.
In downtown LA, a party turned deadly when gunfire erupted around 1 a.m.
Near 14th Place and Griffith Avenue, killing two and injuring six.
Authorities say over 50 people had gathered at the location hours earlier, and one arrest had been made for gun possession before the shooting occurred.
Hours later, police returned to find eight victims — including a 52-year-old woman who later died in hospital.
Meanwhile, in Montana, four people were killed at The Owl Bar in Anaconda.
The suspect, Michael Paul Brown, remains on the run and is considered armed and dangerous.
Law enforcement warned residents to stay away from Stumptown and surrounding areas.
