Sensex, Nifty skid as coronavirus cases continue to rise

Equity indices plunged on Monday as fears mounted that the global shutdown due to coronavirus could last for months. After sliding over 1,000 points in initial deals, the benchmark BSE sensex trimmed of its losses to trade 452 points or 1.52 per cent lower at 29,363; while the broader NSE Nifty tanked 121 points or 1.40 per cent to 8,539.
