Sensex, Nifty end higher; energy stocks boost blue-chips

Both Indian indices, sensex and Nifty closed higher on Wednesday, supported by gains in energy stocks due to falling oil prices. The Nifty 50 index rose 0.19% while the sensex increased by 0.05%. Energy and oil & gas sectors saw gains, while financial services and IT sectors declined. Small- and mid-cap stocks continued to outperform, aided by retail inflows. Pharma and real estate stocks also saw positive movements. Small- and mid-caps have gained 37% and 28% in 2023 so far, compared to 7.4% rise in the Nifty.
