Ukraine corridor freight costs up after missile attack, brokers say
Friday, 10 November 2023
Freight costs have increased for ships using Ukraine's alternative export corridor after a cargo vessel was attacked in the Black Sea. Ukrainian officials stated that a Russian missile damaged the civilian ship, which was supposed to transport iron ore to China. Despite the attack, the corridor is still operational. The attack has led to a $20 per ton increase in sea freight rates and a decrease in the number of shipowners willing to load in Ukrainian ports.
