Bharti Airtel has reportedly asked the government to exchange its statutory debts for equity. The company owes the government over Rs 70,000 crore. This includes around Rs 40,000 crore in AGR dues. Airtel believes this move will save cash. It will also allow the government to invest in a growing company. The government previously used this method with Vodafone Idea.
