'Is it worse than racism?': West Ham player questions outcry over Zouma's mistreatment of cat
Thursday, 10 February 2022 West Ham forward Michail Antonio has questioned whether Kurt Zouma's mistreatment of his cat is "worse than racism" - as a petition calling for the French defender to be prosecuted surpassed 270,000 signatures.
Chris Kirkland claimed that the video of Kurt Zouma kicking his pet cat is 'worse, if anything', than racism or biting in a bizarre comparison broadcast live on BBC Breakfast.
The RSPCA say it's "pleased" with the sentencing of Kurt Zouma and that this case will "serve as a reminder that animals should be treated with compassion, respect and that animal cruelty will not be tolerated". The West Ham footballer has been ordered to carry out 180 hours of community service for abusing his pet cats and has been banned for owning cats for the next 5 years.
