Why are 700 British troops being deployed to Cyprus?
Wednesday, 25 September 2024 About 700 UK troops are being deployed to an RAF base in Cyprus in case the military needs to evacuate British citizens from Lebanon, where the situation is deteriorating.
A Hezbollah fighter was killed and four others injured in a deadly Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh province. The IDF targeted a motorcycle in the Bint Jbeil district, reportedly eliminating Haitham Mohammad Idris, a known Hezbollah member. This marks yet another escalation despite a fragile ceasefire in place since November 27.
Earlier the same day, Israeli forces also dropped stun grenades and opened fire in Ramieh village. Lebanese officials have condemned the strikes as a “flagrant violation” of the truce, while tensions continue to rise over disputed border areas still occupied by Israeli forces.
As ceasefire violations multiply and regional instability grows, the nearly 14-month-long conflict between Israel and Hezbollah shows no sign of slowing. Could this be the beginning of another full-scale war?

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are witnessing a disturbing surge in suicides, with five soldiers taking their own lives in just two weeks. This includes a 19-year-old Norwegian immigrant and a Golani Brigade serviceman, both victims of psychological trauma tied to Israel’s prolonged war in Gaza and its broader military campaigns across seven active fronts. In 2024 alone, over 20 IDF suicides have been confirmed, primarily among active-duty reservists recently returned from intense combat.
Army officials blame post-traumatic stress and long deployments for the spike. Opposition leaders are calling it a silent crisis, with thousands of soldiers withdrawing from combat roles due to mental breakdowns. Meanwhile, official numbers may underreport the true toll, as additional non-combat veterans’ deaths remain uncounted. With Israel’s military stretched thin across Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, and the West Bank, the cost is not only strategic—but deeply human.

IDF Bombs Hezbollah targets deep inside Lebanon in a high-risk, precision airstrike that rocked the Bekaa Valley. The daring raid targeted Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force camps, with explosions lighting up the night sky and shaking the region. This marks a major escalation as IDF bombs Hezbollah strongholds in deep-Lebanon territory, far beyond previous red lines. The Israeli military confirmed that the operation was aimed at dismantling Hezbollah’s command centers and advanced weapons depots.
