'Remarkable' reduction in number of youths joining militancy since August 5 last year: Report
Sunday, 9 February 2020 The number of youths joining the ranks of terrorists in Kashmir has gone down "remarkably" since the nullification of provisions of Article 370 in August last year, officials have said. According to a report prepared by security agencies, on an average, five local youths have joined militancy every month since August 5 last year, as compared to the earlier rate of 14 per month.

Two militants on Thursday surrendered before security forces during a cordon and search operation in Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. "A cordon and search operation was launched by security forces in Tujjar area of Sopore. During the operation, two militants surrendered before security forces," they said. Both the militants, aged 20 and 21, are residents of Sopore town, the officials said, adding that the identity of the duo is withheld for operational reasons. Watch the video for more details.
