Police officers have been examining the scene of the Pakistan Stock Exchange, after gunmen opened fire on the financial centre killing at least three people.Among the dead are two guards and a policeman, according to officials. Five officials of the Indian Embassy in Pakistan, including the two who were abducted and tortured by Pakistan security agencies, return to India via the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar on June 22. Earlier on June 15, India summoned Pakistan's Charge d'affaires Syed Haider Shah and issued a demarche over the reported arrest of two officials in Islamabad. Pakistan was asked to return the two officials along with the official car to the High Commission immediately. The incident took place days after two Pakistani officials at Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi were deported for espionage activities in India.

Baloch activists hold anti-Pakistan protest in Canada for human rights violations in Balochistan

Baloch political and human rights activists gathered in Toronto on Sunday to protest against Pakistan and China for gross human rights violations in Balochistan. The protest was held under the aegis of Bramsh Solidarity Committee to express anger at the murders of women and children in Balochistan. The protesters condemned the senseless murders of two Baloch women by the Pakistan Army death squads in which a 4-year-old girl, Bramsh was wounded by a stray bullet. The protesters held placards demanding: Justice for Bramsh, Justice for Maliknaz and Kulsoom, Baloch Lives Matter, Dismantle Pak Army Death Squads in Balochistan, No to Chinese CPEC in Balochistan and China Hands-off Gwadar Port Balochistan. Zafar Baloch, a Baloch Human Rights Activist based in Canada said, "Baloch people are fighting against the Pakistan Army and against the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China and in which the decisions are made in Islamabad and GHQ, Rawalpindi where the army headquarters are, and also by Communist Party of China. They are equally criminal partners in Pakistan's slaughter and atrocities taken place in Balochistan". Karima Baloch, Ex-chairperson of Baloch Students Organisation (Azad), who is living in exile in Canada said, "Pakistan is the main perpetrator behind all thefts and killings. The army, who is running death squads and also the Frontier Corps (FC) and Anti-Terrorism Squad, is behind the killings and human rights violations in Balochistan". Protesters also expressed their anger at the Chinese CPEC projects and control over the sea port of Gwadar that has become the major reason for the China-backed Pakistani military operations in Balochistan resulting in the death of thousands of Baloch civilians.

COVID-19 tests in India cross 1 crore mark

With a spike of 22,252 cases, India's COVID-19 case count crossed seven lakh on Tuesday while 467 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. According to the Union Health Ministry, the total count of cases reached 7,19,665 on Tuesday and the death toll has gone up to 20,160. Of the total count of cases, 2,59,557 are active cases and 4,39,948 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated. The total count has increased from six to seven lakh in five days. The Health Ministry said that the number of recovered patients reached 4,39,947 today and the number was 1,80,390 more than the active cases. India's recovery rate has gone up to 61.13 per cent. Maharashtra continued to remain the worst-affected state, 5134 new positive cases and 224 deaths were reported on July 07. Tamil Nadu, being second in the tally, reported 3616 fresh COVID-19 cases and 65 deaths today. 2008 new COVID-19 positive cases and 50 deaths were reported in Delhi. The Union Health Ministry said that COVID-19 tests in India crossed 1 crore mark as a result of continuously expanding network of testing labs in the country. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 2,41,430 samples were tested for COVID-19 on July 6 which has taken the total number of samples tested till Monday to 1,02,11,092.
