2 terrorists killed in J&K's Kupwara; ammunition, Pakistan currency recovered
Saturday, 11 July 2020 Two terrorists were killed in an ambush by the Indian Army at Nougam sector in north Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday. The Army recovered arms and ammunition, along with Pakistani currency. The terrorists were trying to infiltrate by cutting an anti-infiltration fence, said Major General Virendra Vats, GOC 19 Infantry Division, Baramullah.

Pakistan has been constantly violating the ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir. People living in the border areas have been badly affected by the Pakistan shelling. Many have even lost their family members to the firing by the Pakistan Army . A local resident from Poonch said that Pakistani Army resorts to killing innocent people because they do not have the guts to face the Indian Army. He said Pakistan has been resorting to these tactics for many years now and added that he lost three people of his family to Pakistan shelling. Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control resorting to small arms firing and intense mortar shelling in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district on August 10. Earlier on August 9 also, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violations by small arms firing and shelling with mortars in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.The Indian Army has been giving a befitting response to provocations by the Pakistan Army and also helping the border residents. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hoisted the national flag on 74th Independence Day in Srinagar. Celebrations have been kept minimal this year in view of COVID spread. Sinha, former union minister, took oath of office as Lt Governor on August 07. "People responsible for partition had also attempted to create divisions here on the basis of religion. People here always dismissed their ideology. Rejecting the religious frenzy at the time of partition, people of JandK connected themselves to the sense of national spirit," said the Lt Governor.
The women soldiers of Assam Rifles have been deployed in JandK's Kupwara to keep a check on weapon and drug smuggling. A soldier said, "There were inputs that women and children are being used to do smuggling, we have been brought here to curb it." 'Rifle Women' unit of the Assam Rifles has been deployed in the region for first time.
On the occasion of Independence Day, President Ram Nath Kovind paid tribute at National War Memorial. President Kovind was accompanied by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief MM Naravane, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh and Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria were also present. India is celebrating 74th Independence Day.

A group of civic society on Aug 14 held protest near the Pakistani embassy in Kathmandu denouncing atrocities over Hindu minorities as well as destruction of Buddha idols and temples. Members of Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan held placards and banners denouncing the move of Pakistan Government and had marched near the Pakistan mission in Nepal when they were stopped by security forces. Alerted by the gathering the Pakistani Embassy called on the local police who seized the banners and holding from protestors and sent protestors back into bus in which they came to the spot.
With several reforms are underway after Jammu and Kashmir received the Union Territory status, Government has taken another initiative in developing a 5.25 km road from NH-1A 46th Delina to Singhpora in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. This developmental process of road construction is being executed under Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) at the cost of rupees 443.65 lacs . The Union Territory administration has taken this step under Pradhan Mantri Gram SadakYojna (PMGSY) scheme, benefitting the people living in rural area in commuting. Local residents of the area thanked the government of India, and government of Jammu and Kashmir for the developmental process.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing rapid progress since after the abrogation of Article 370 last with. Public facilities are being enhanced in Baramulla as the construction of foot-bridge is ongoing in full swing. Earlier, locals used to use old, wooden bridge to cross the Jhelum River. The bridge connects the civil line area with the old town of Baramulla district. The construction work of this bridge is being executed by Roads and Bridges Dept of Kashmir with the cost of Rs 5.25 crore. The construction work also offered employment to people of the Valley.
Construction of underground bunkers began at villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district in view of ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Javed Ahmad, Junior Engineer said, "Total 18 bunkers to be constructed here, work underway for six bunkers is underway." The bunker will be equipped with all the facilities which will allow people to take shelter in the bunkers for days. 18 community bunkers will be constructed in Boniyar and Uri areas out of which construction work on six is being underway and will be finished shortly. Each bunker will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. Each community bunker will consist of two rooms besides a washroom. Local residents of border areas of Uri were heaving a sigh of relief as their long pending demand is being finally met. Ceasefire violation by Pakistan has been increased in recent days and several civilians lost their lives due to these unprovoked ceasefire violation.
