Railways to convert 503 coaches into isolation wards for Covid-19 patients in Delhi-NCR
Saturday, 11 July 2020 In a bid to provide additional healthcare facilities to Delhi-NCR residents to combat coronavirus, Northern Railways will provide 503 isolation coaches to be used as Covid-19 wards. These isolation coaches, which will have around 8,048 beds, will be parked at nine different stations of the national capital.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut commented on Sushant Singh Rajput's death case probe on August 09. He believes that a conspiracy is being brewed against the Maharashtra government. "The kind of politics being done in Bihar and Delhi over Sushant Singh Rajput's death, I believe a conspiracy is being hatched against Maharashtra government. Mumbai Police is a capable force and is trying its best to bring out the truth," Raut said.
General Manager of Northern Railway, Rajiv Chaudhry visited the COVID care centre on June 25. COVID care centre was set up at Delhi's Shakurbasti Railway Station. The centre has been created using 50 isolation coaches provided for this purpose. He took stock of the facility and was briefed about the work done by Northern Railway in maintaining the coaches and the premises. Addressing railway and government officials present there, Chaudhry encouraged and appreciated the efforts being put in by them to mitigate the suffering of the people due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chaudhry said that the Indian Railways will put in all its efforts and resources to help the nation overcome this crisis. He added that 503 isolation coaches have been placed in different stations of Delhi area to be used as COVID care centers by the Delhi government if need arises. The coaches at Shakurbasti are working as an extension of Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, Pitampura, this way it will be easier for admission and monitoring of the patients. Very mild to mild cases are being admitted here. Northern Railway will be responsible for the basic infrastructure and maintenance of the premises. Cleaning and sanitization of platforms, housekeeping materials, management of Bio-toilets, power and electric supply arrangements, watering, communication facilities, signage and marking of different areas will be provided by the Railway. Oxygen cylinders in the coaches have been provided by the Railways. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) will provide security at the railway station premises and the platform area where the coaches have been placed. There are over 26,000 active cases of COVID-19 in Delhi.
The Jodhpur Railway Division has converted 150 sleeper coaches into isolation coaches for Northern Railway. Senior Public Relations Officer, Jodhpur Railway Division, Gopal Sharma said, "Jodhpur railway division has prepared 150 isolation coaches for northwestern railway zone of which 50 are for Jodhpur. We have modified the coaches according to the standard design."
As cases of coronavirus are increasing in the national capital, the government is focusing on increasing isolation facilities. Around 300 COVID care isolation coaches will be placed at Anand Vihar Terminal on June 16. These isolation coaches are being placed by the central government. Northern Railways CPRO Deepak Kumar said, "Only, people with mild symptoms will be kept here. Management of coach and patient will be done by the state." Constant surge in Delhi has taken national capital's tally of active cases to 25002.
The Chief Public Relation Officers (CPRO) of Northern Railways, Deepak Kumar informed that central government is providing 500 isolation coaches to Delhi government in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. "Central government is providing 500 isolation coaches to Delhi government. 50 coaches have already been deployed at Shakur Basti containing 900 beds. Around 180 coaches will be placed at Anand Vihar and some at another station by tomorrow," said Deepak Kumar.
A Covid-19 positive woman was allegedly molested by a doctor, who was also admitted as a patient in the isolation ward, at a hospital in Noida, according to Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police..
