Poor state of women safety in Uttar Pradesh disturbing: Priyanka Gandhi
Friday, 16 October 2020 "In the last one week, 13 horrific incidents of crime against women have occurred in UP. As per reports, victims have been killed or the victims committed suicide in four such incidents," she said in a tweet in Hindi. "This poor condition of women safety is disturbing. The chief minister has no time to convene a 'special session' but his photo session is on," she also said while taking a swipe at the chief minister.
Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi slammed Congress over Rahul Gandhi and Priyank Gandhi's massive protest over farm laws. He did it because of Rahul Gandhi's political 'parpanch'. Congress workers on January 15 protested against Centre government as part of the party's nationwide agitation to express solidarity with the ongoing farmers' protest against the three new farm laws. The workers marched towards the Punjab Raj Bhawan for the gherao but were stopped by the police.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, led the protest to show solidarity with the farmers' agitation against the farm laws by gheraoing the Raj Niwas in the capital. They also met Congress party Member of Parliaments who were protesting against the three farm laws at Jantar Mantar. Bhupinder Singh Mann, National President of Bharatiya Kisan Union recused himself from a four-member committee appointed by the Supreme Court on the farm laws. Speaking on the matter, Rahul Gandhi said, "Have you ever heard about the word Maya? Everything is Maya, media-created Maya and this myth will soon end. Just wait and watch what will happen the day this Maya will end." Congress Party held protests across the country demanding a repeal of the farm laws brought by the Central government, against which farmer organisations have been protesting at the various borders of Delhi for 50 days now. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met party MPs, who are protesting against the three farm laws at Jantar Mantar on January 15. While speaking to mediapersons, Rahul said, "The three (farm) laws have been brought to finish the farmers. If we don't stop this now, it will continue to happen in other sectors too. Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not respect the farmers. The farmers will neither deter nor fear."
Fog and cold wave led to low visibility on the morning of January 24. Dense to very dense fog was observed at isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh while moderate fog reported in remaining parts of the state, as per the India Meteorological Department.
A shocking incident came to light from Uttar Pradesh's Rampur. A newborn girl was rescued from a pit in Civil Lines Police Station area on January 23. According to the officials from district hospital, the infant was thrown from a height. Dr Rajeev Agarwal informed, "It appears that the infant was thrown from a height. Her medical reports are yet to come. She was admitted in a very serious condition."
Moderate fog engulfed the national capital on the morning of January 24. Bitter cold conditions prevail in parts of north India. Minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius is expected in the upcoming week in Delhi. According to the India Meteorological Department, cold wave to severe cold wave is predicted in isolated pockets of Delhi for next 2-3 days. Northern Indian states including the Himalayas can likely to witness rain, thunderstorm and snow during the next few days. IMD's regional Met centre in New Delhi has issued orange alerts over Uttar Pradesh for Jan 24 and across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi for Jan 24 and 25.
FIR lodged against director Prakash Jha for allegedly hurting SC-ST sentiments in Aashram. Rajasthan Police said the case has been registered at Luni police station in Jodhpur Rural. Jha, who has also produced the web series, allegedly promoted discrimination against SC-ST. Luni station house officer Sitaram Pawar said a probe into the allegations has begun. "The complaint against web series Aashram has been registered by DR Meghwa. Complainant said people of SC-ST communities have been insulted in the first episode. We have registered the case under relevant sections and further probe is underway," Pawar said. Earlier in December 2020, a Jodhpur court had issued a notice to Jha and actor Bobby Deol. The notice was issued in connection with another case filed against the web series. Aashram is a Hindi crime drama series which also stars Darshan Kumar, Anupriya Goenka.
