Mulayam Singh Yadav, on November 22, turned 82. He reached Samajwadi Party office to celebrate his birth anniversary with the party workers. His son and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav was also present at the event.
Ahead of Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections, former state Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's niece Sandhya Yadav has filed her nomination from Mainpuri on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket, on April 07. She is the incumbent chairperson of Mainpuri district panchayat. The state gram panchayat elections are scheduled to be held in four phases starting from April 15. The votes will be counted on May 2.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee visited the Kalighat temple on Sunday. The TMC supremo offered prayers at the temple after victory in assembly polls. Mamata was accompanied by her nephew & TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee. Meanwhile, many leaders including PM Modi have congratulated her for the TMC win. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated Mamata for her victory. Bengal Guv Jagdeep Dhankhar also took to Twitter to congratulate Mamata. Congress' Rahul Gandhi congratulated Mamata & people of Bengal for defeating BJP. Punjab CM Amarinder Singh & Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also congratulated Mamata. Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut congratulated the 'Tigress of Bengal' on Twitter. Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati also congratulated Mamata for the good performance of TMC.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. Taking to Twitter, Adityanath said he is in self-isolation and doing tasks virtually. On Tuesday, the CM isolated himself after some staffers in his office tested positive. Development comes shortly after the UP CM wrapped up his campaign for Bengal polls. Adityanath took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine on April 05 at a Civil Hospital in Lucknow. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has tested positive for coronavirus. Yadav had recently visited Haridwar where Kumbh Mela is underway & met religious leaders. Uttar Pradesh urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon has also tested positive. UP govt has already announced restrictions on gatherings of people in view of Covid. Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday reported highest-ever single-day spike of 18,021 cases and 85 deaths. Adityanath govt has also imposed a night curfew in districts with over 500 active cases.

'Jumu'atul-Wida' is being observed on May 07 but due to COVID-19 crisis, mosques in Lucknow were seen deserted. Uttar Pradesh Government has directed observers to celebrate 'Jumu'atul-Wida' at home due to curfew. Security forces were also deployed near mosques to keep a tab over movement of people. 'Jumu'atul-Widaa' is the last Friday in the month of Ramadan before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Uttar Pradesh Government, in an attempt to curb the coronavirus spread, announced extension of the 'Corona Curfew' till 7 am, May 10. During this time, all restrictions will remain as before and only essential services will continue to be exempted. Meanwhile, as per the new COVID-19 guidelines, any kind of social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious festivals and other gatherings remain banned. Irrespective of this, people in Lucknow's Alambagh Sabzi Mandi put aside the protocols and thronged the market in large numbers. They also violated social distancing amid the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
As many as 3 persons killed after an oxygen cylinder burst at an oxygen gas filling station located on Dewa road in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on May 05. Speaking to ANI, Police Commissioner DK Thakur said that while refilling of cylinders one of the cylinders exploded. "While refilling of cylinders, one of the cylinders exploded. 3 people have died so far. One injured is being treated at RML Hospital while 4 others have been shifted to Trauma Centre," said Thakur.
