Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended Combined Commanders' Conference in Kevadia on March 05. He also visited the Statue of Unity today along with COAS General MM Naravane, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh, CDS General Bipin Rawat and IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria.
Observing that the Indian military faces greater challenges than any other military in the world, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat on Thursday said there is a need to study transformational concepts and to be prepared for threats for military primary arising from China and Pakistan. In his keynote address during a national webinar on "Transformation: Imperatives for Indian Armed Forces" organised by the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, Rawat said that India is facing complex security and a challenging environment. "Some important steps that we need to take, include-- defining the national security strategy, higher defence strategic guidance, structural reforms in higher defence and operational organisations," he said. Indian Army Special Forces Training Schools began training of Turkmenistan Special Forces on Thursday. Indian Army is training Turkmenistan Special Forces in Combat Free Fall. Following the recent military crackdown on pro-democracy supporters in Southeast Asian country, some activists of civil society members held a demonstration in front of Myanmar Embassy in Nepal. Protestors were seen demanding in front of embassy calling for incumbent military- government of Myanmar to stop brutal killing of its people. No less than 38 people were killed in Myanmar on Thursday as the military tried to control demonstrations by pro-democracy campaigners against last month's coup.
