BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari's father, Sisir Adhikari hinted at joining the party and extended his support to him. "I don't know about the joining, my sons does but I will support my son and if they ask me to attend PM Modi's meeting; I'll definitely go. I am in favour of my son. Of course, if he asks me to join BJP, I'll do that," said Sisir Adhikari. Earlier today, Suvendu Adhikari announced that his father Sisir Adhikari will attend PM Narendra Modi's rally tomorrow to extend his support.
Home Minister Amit Shah addressed public rally in West Bengal's Egra on March 21 ahead of state Assembly elections. At the event, Shah said, "Can Mamata give you freedom from infiltrators? We will make Bengal free of infiltrators in five years. Our 130 cadres were killed. Goons of TMC shouldn't think that they will be spared. We will take action when our government comes to power in West Bengal on May 2," he said. The Bengal Assembly elections are scheduled to be held eight phases starting from March 27.
A TMC worker was allegedly stabbed to death in West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur. Incident took place in the district's Keshpur area in the early hours of Thursday. Police said Uttam Dolui was at a local club in Hariharpur when he was attacked. Police added that around 10-15 people allegedly attacked Dolui with sharp weapons. The 48-year-old TMC worker reportedly died on the way to a hospital in Midnapore. Police said seven people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Dolui's family alleged that BJP 'goons' attacked him to create tension in the area. BJP dismissed the allegations, saying they have no reason for resorting to violence. Meanwhile, a BJP worker was found hanging at his home in Purba Medinipur's Nandigram. Uday Dubey was found hanging at his home in Bhekutia area on Thursday morning. Dubey's family claimed that he was under stress as he was receiving threats from TMC. However, TMC denied charges and hit out at BJP for indulging in politics over a death. Police said a case of unnatural death has been lodged and further probe is underway. High-voltage Nandigram is under heavy security cover with Section 144 being clamped. In Nandigram, CM Mamata Banerjee is taking on her former aide, Suvendu Adhikari.

Former police commissioner and BJP candidate from Debra constituency Bharati Ghosh alleged that her polling agent was not being allowed to enter a polling booth in Nowpara area. She alleged that her polling agent was gheraoed by goons and said that similar incidents were also happening in other areas. ‘In Barunia, voters are getting threatened. They are getting threatened before entering the booth. The election commission should ensure free & fair elections,’ Ghosh said.
