Wednesday, 6 September 2023 The Supreme Court on Wednesday prevented Manipur police from arresting three Editors Guild journalists. Appearing on behalf of EGI journalists Seema Guha, Sanjay Kapoor, and Bharat Bhushan, senior advocate Shyam Divan told a bench of CJI D Y Chandrachud, Justices J B Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra that the FIRs violated free speech and cited orders courts had previously issued to protect people from arrest, including a woman advocate.
