From soccer field, Manipur star returns ‘home’ - a relief camp

Ngamgouhou Mate, the captain of the U-16 Indian football team, is currently living in a relief camp after his home was destroyed in ethnic violence. Despite the difficult circumstances, Mate is continuing to train in preparation for the upcoming AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifier. His family is currently separated, with his mother, brother, and sisters in one relief camp and his father staying back to guard their village. Mate hopes for peace in his state and is grateful that his loved ones are safe.
