U'khand hikes rates for stay at forest rest houses by up to 3 times

IndiaTimes Saturday, 23 September 2023
Tourists visiting Corbett National Park in India will now have to pay almost three times the previous fee for a safari, with costs rising from Rs 950 to Rs 3,000. This sudden increase in fees has led to protests from Gypsy drivers who rely on tourism for their livelihood. They have demanded a reduction in tour rates, stating that the hike will discourage tourism and lead to a crisis for drivers and guides. The Corbett administration received a government order to triple the fees, with the director stating that this adjustment follows a long period without any hikes.
