Maharashtra: 54 Shiv Sena MLAs issued fresh notices, called by Speaker for hearing on Monday

IndiaTimes Saturday, 23 September 2023
Officials in the Maharashtra legislature have issued fresh notices to 54 Shiv Sena MLAs from rival factions, summoning them for a hearing on Monday. The notices come after the Supreme Court ordered the assembly Speaker to dispose of the proceedings against the legislators. The MLAs are expected to be given a schedule for the disqualification proceedings and informed about the estimated timelines and procedure. The Speaker had recently visited Delhi to discuss the Supreme Court's order with legal experts. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has alleged that the Speaker has caused constitutional embarrassment by delaying the process.
