After SC setback in Cauvery water conundrum, Karnataka weighs options

The Karnataka government is considering legal and political options to challenge the Cauvery Water Management Authority's (CWMA) order to release water to Tamil Nadu. However, legal experts suggest that Karnataka has no choice but to comply with the order. Politically, Karnataka could pressure the Centre to mediate between the two states for an out-of-court settlement. Another option would be to convene a special assembly session and pass a resolution, but this approach has been deemed legally untenable. Ultimately, defying the order and facing potential consequences is the last resort for the state.
