CRPF to replace state cops along disputed Assam-Meghalaya border
Sunday, 1 October 2023 Assam and Meghalaya have decided to withdraw their respective state police forces from disputed areas along their interstate boundary and replace them with the CRPF, a neutral force, to prevent border skirmishes. The two states also agreed to hand over the probe into the Mukroh violence, in which six people were killed, to the CBI instead of continuing with the ongoing judicial inquiry. The decision was made during a meeting between the Chief Ministers of both states, where they also discussed resolving the remaining border disputes.
