Lung diseases worsening in Mumbai; mask best defence, say doctors

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 25 October 2023
The rising levels of air pollution in Mumbai are leading to an increase in patients with chronic respiratory diseases seeking medical attention. Doctors have noticed an increase in the severity of symptoms in asthmatic patients, with some requiring hospitalization. The levels of PM2.5 and PM10 have been linked to the number of patients visiting doctors' clinics. The problem of air pollution in Mumbai is relatively new compared to Delhi, but it is becoming a growing concern. Doctors recommend using masks and avoiding outdoor activities in the mornings to reduce exposure to pollutants. Indoor exercise, such as yoga, is recommended as an alternative.
