Karnataka stares at water crisis: 56% storage at 14 major dams

IndiaTimes Thursday, 26 October 2023
The water level in all 14 major dams of Karnataka has reached a low point, leading to a water crisis in the state. The overall water capacity in the dams is currently at 56%, with only 502tmcft of water left until the next monsoon season in June 2024. The situation is classified as "serious" and could worsen in the next few months. The Cauvery basin is particularly stressed with zero inflows and daily release of water. The weather predictions for the northeast monsoon have not been optimistic.
