With march of technology, Jaipur bastion of banners cropped out of poll picture

Boraj House in Jaipur, once a hub for election banners and cut-outs, has been rendered obsolete by computer and printing technology. The dilapidated building, which used to be sought-after by candidates, is now silent. The advent of technology has enabled banners to be designed and printed quickly, causing the artists who used to create them to seek refuge in the gem and jewellery markets of the city. The closure of the poll material mart last month signifies the end of an era. The Election Commission's restrictions on banners and expenses have also contributed to the decline.
