Maratha quota stir: Protesters torch homes, offices of MLAs in Beed, 2 agitators attempt self-immolation

Protesters in Marathwada's Beed district set fire to the bungalow of NCP MLA Prakash Solanke, demanding reservation for the Maratha community. There were also reports of self-immolation attempts. Several other properties, including the NCP district headquarters and a hotel, were torched. Authorities imposed curbs on gatherings in the area and most government offices were shut. Protesters also targeted the office of a BJP MLA in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
