Maratha quota violence: Maharashtra CM Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis tell police to act, slap murder bid cases

Following the violence and arson during the Maratha reservation agitation in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have instructed the police to take strict action against those involved. Cases will be filed under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC for such incidents. Fadnavis stated that peaceful protesters would not be troubled, but those resorting to violence would face consequences. Additional forces have been mobilized, curfews and internet shutdowns have been implemented, and 49 people have been arrested so far.
