Indian sign language brings hope for deaf students aspiring to learn STEM subjects

The Indian government is partnering with scientists and deaf education experts to train sign language interpreters and develop signs for STEM concepts in Indian Sign Language (ISL). This initiative aims to support deaf students in pursuing higher education in science, technology, engineering, and math. The collaboration between the CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology and the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre will focus on creating STEM terms and concepts in ISL for students in classes 9 to 12.
