Seeking change in counting day, Mizoram NGO body visits Delhi to meet Election Commission

IndiaTimes Thursday, 23 November 2023
A delegation of Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee (NGOCC) has gone to Delhi to meet Election Commission officials and request a reschedule of the counting of votes for the state assembly polls. The EC has set December 3 as the counting day, which clashes with church programs in the Christian-majority state. The NGOCC, along with political parties, church, and student bodies, has urged the EC to change the date to December 4 or 5.

LS Polls 2024: Former Telangana CM KCR barred from campaigning for 48 hours | Oneindia

On Wednesday, the Election Commission took action against former Telangana CM and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, barring him from campaigning for 48 hours, effective from 8 pm today. This decision was made due to "derogatory and objectionable statements" made by Rao against the Congress party. The EC's action followed a complaint filed by Congress leader G Niranjan, prompting the commission to issue a notice to K Chandrashekar Rao. The EC noted that Rao had previously received several advisories and instructions regarding his speeches. #LSPolls2024 #TelanganaElections #KCR #CampaignBan #Elections2024 #KChandrashekarRao #ElectionBan #PoliticalNews #TelanganaCM #CampaignRestriction #PoliticalBan #ECAction #CampaigningBarred #ElectoralViolation #PoliticalSanction ~HT.178~PR.152~ED.194~GR.124~
