No social media Information, get authentic data in PIL: High court

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 28 November 2023
The Bombay HC declined to hear a PIL seeking safety measures at waterfalls and water bodies in Maharashtra. The court stated that social media information cannot be part of a PIL and questioned the authenticity of the data. The PIL highlighted the inaction of authorities in addressing drowning incidents during the monsoon season. The court emphasized the need for concrete evidence and specific details in the PIL, suggesting that the petitioner file a fresh petition with accurate data.
