From next year, pupils must be at least 6 to seek Class 1 admission in Bengal

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 29 November 2023
The Bengal government has mandated that only children who are at least six years old can seek admission to Class 1 from the 2024-'25 academic session, in adherence to the provisions of the Right to Education Act. This aligns with the National Education Policy and guidelines issued by the state. Schools under the state board and CISCE have already been following this age criterion, while CBSE schools have made necessary changes to their admission criteria. The age rule ensures that children below six years old will not be promoted to Class 1.
