India to build 10,000 houses in Sri Lanka's tea plantation areas

India signs agreements with the National Housing Development Authority and State Engineering Corporation to build 10,000 houses in Sri Lanka's plantation areas under Phase-IV of the Indian Housing Project. The project is spread across 11 districts and 6 provinces. The total commitment of the Indian government under the project is 60,000 houses. The High Commissioner of India, Gopal Baglay, travels by train from Colombo to Medawachiya using spacious coaches provided by India, highlighting India's development cooperation in strengthening rail infrastructure in Sri Lanka.
