INS Kadmatt enters Japan for Operational Turnaround, set to celebrate Navy Day in Yokosuka
Sunday, 3 December 2023 INS Kadmatt, an Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, arrived in Yokosuka, Japan for an Operational Turnaround. The ship will celebrate India's Navy Day with the Indian diaspora. Planned activities include onboard visits, professional exchanges with the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), a Joint Yoga Camp, and coordination for the Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX). The visit aims to strengthen maritime cooperation between India and Japan, in line with their vision for the Indo-Pacific. INS Kadmatt previously undertook fuelling with JMSDF Fast Combat Support Ship, JS Towada, under the Reciprocal Provisioning of Supply and Services (RPSS) agreement.
China's military expressed concern over India and the Philippines conducting naval exercises in the disputed South China Sea, urging defense cooperation to not disrupt third-party interests or regional peace. This reaction followed INS Kadmatt's participation in a drill with the BRP Ramon Alcaraz of the Philippine Navy. China stressed bilateral resolution of maritime disputes and defended its actions against the Philippines' claims.
