Menstrual leave: One ministry pushes ball to another's court

The ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions has stated that the matter of special menstrual leave for women government employees is a health-related issue and should be examined by the health ministry. A parliamentary committee had recommended the personnel ministry to consult stakeholders and frame a menstrual leave policy for women government employees. The committee noted that menstruation affects women's productivity and recommended menstrual leaves without medical certificates. The panel also mentioned existing leave policies for female government employees.
