One of world’s largest raptors sighted in Delhi after 3 decades

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 12 December 2023
A cinerous vulture, a native of Central Asia and Europe, was seen in Delhi-NCR after at least three decades. Retired scientist Surya Prakash spotted the vulture hovering over Neeli Jheel in the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. This sighting is even rarer considering the 54-year gap since the last record. Prakash photographed the vulture, which was being chased by black kites, with an Egyptian vulture tailing it. The cinerous vulture is among the largest raptors in the world with a wingspan of three meters.
