The Harsil valley in Uttarkashi district has become a popular destination for filmmakers, with a dozen films and web series choosing it as their backdrop. The upcoming Garhwali feature film 'Naam Namak Nishan' was recently filmed in Harsil, showcasing the life of soldier Gabar Singh Negi who fought in WWI and was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross. The film aims to highlight the culture, natural beauty, and talent of Uttarakhand. The shoot provided extra income to locals and offered them roles in the film. Harsil valley has gained popularity as a tourist destination and a preferred spot for filmmakers.
