India's first chemo syrup is here, to benefit 10,000 kids a year

IndiaTimes Saturday, 30 December 2023
Doctors from Tata Memorial Centre and IDRS Labs have developed India's first chemotherapy drug, 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP), in a syrup form to combat Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in children. The oral suspension, called PREVALL, effectively tackles challenges associated with existing tablet formulations. It is expected to benefit around 10,000 children annually. The child-friendly formulation is available as a powder for oral suspension, offering precise dosing tailored to a patient's body. The powder is designed to ensure stability of the drug in hot/humid conditions.
