SC to hear Subramaniam Swamy's plea to delete 'secular', 'socialist' from Constitution

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a petition filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, seeking the removal of the words "secular" and "socialist" from the Preamble of the Constitution. Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta have set the hearing for the week starting April 29. Swamy in his petition has asserted that the two words violate the basic structure doctrine.
