Stopped producing Covishield in Dec 2021: SII after AstraZeneca recall
UK-based drug major AstraZeneca's decision to withdraw its Covid-19 vaccine globally, days after admitting to side effects, prompted Serum Institute of India to disclose that it had stopped manufacturing Covishield in Dec 2021 due to a fall in demand as well as the emergence of new variants. Covishield accounted for nearly 80% of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India.
