Drones to the rescue: Biryani airdropped to trapped dogs near Mettur Dam in Tamil Nadu

In Salem, firefighters used a drone to deliver food to seven dogs stranded on a small island in the Cauvery River near Mettur dam for three days. The dogs were located after a viral drone video revealed their predicament. The rescuers plan to retrieve the dogs on Sunday using a drone with a 30kg payload capacity. The operation, involving GEOTechnoValley, will deploy a cage-like structure to safely lift each dog. This rescue effort came about after rises in dam outflow trapped the animals on what became an isolated islet.
