Maharashtra poll: Ex-IAS officer joins Shiv Sena, enters fray as Independent against BJP

Vijay Nahata, a former IAS officer, rejoined the Shiv Sena and then decided to run as an independent for the Belapur seat. He will compete against BJP's Manda Mhatre and NCP-SP's Sandeep Naik. The Belapur seat has an Agri-Koli voter base and faces developmental and environmental challenges. The election is expected to be closely contested.
