Delhi: AAP's Mahesh Khichi elected mayor as party defeats BJP in MCD polls
Thursday, 14 November 2024 () Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Leader Mahesh Kumar Khichi has been elected as the new Mayor of Delhi, as the party won the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by three votes.
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time in a grand ceremony at Mumbai's Azad Maidan. The event was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who congratulated Fadnavis on his return to the top post. Top BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and JP Nadda, joined the celebrations alongside Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor. Industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Kumar Mangalam Birla also attended the star-studded gathering, which saw a turnout of nearly 40,000 people.
